SCOOTER Chinese
Crested cross approx 12 months old.
Scooter
arrived Saturday the 6th February and what a delightful little man he
is, I have never seen a dog his size with such big ears, that is why I
have said he is a Chinese Crested, although he has long legs and does
have hair which is the cross part, just did not really know what breed
to call him.(Fennec Fox maybe)
This little man is such a good car traveller; I did not know he was
even in the car, he sleeps through the night, appears to be
housetrained as long as he can get outside, will test him soon to see
what he is like with cats.
He has a low maintenance coat although he has been clipped right back as he was tad dirty and matted.
I will list him in a couple of days when his personality has emerged, I
can say that as he is playful he will need another dog for company,
would also be good if he had a couple of older kids to play with.

RALPH
8 month old mystery boy
I
am 8 months old and I have no idea who my mum or dad are. I somehow got
out of my yard and was picked up by this lovely lady in Griffith NSW
who looked after me and put up posters around town to see if my family
came looking for me.
Sadly, that didn’t happen, so she had to
take me to the pound; she cried when she left but the pound told her to
ring Maree at Canberra Pooch Rescue to see if she could help and
luckily for me she could. So that was the start of my journey to
finding my forever home.
I arrived in Canberra and have
not looked back. All the humans are so nice and give me cuddles, let me
snuggle up on the lounge beside them, give me yummy food… what more
could a dog want?
I have a low maintenance coat that will just need the occasional wash.
I
love all humans, other dogs, and I sleep soundly through the night. I
love the car, I am housetrained, all I want in my new home is to be
with a family who have a couple of kids so I can play with them and we
can grow up together, also another pooch about my size to play with
when the humans and kids are at work/school as I don’t want to be on my
own all day.
It would also be good if I could go to
obedience training, as I don’t really know what humans want me to
be/do. I would get to meet other dogs and have a play when
training is finished.
I don’t want much; just a loving
family who will include me in most of the family activities, feed me,
let me inside to be with them when they are home, let me sleep inside
so I feel part of the family and most of all just love me.

EFFIE Chihuahua
Cross girl about 12 months
Effie is typical of
the breed, a real sooky girl.
Effie came from the Wagga area and the poor thing has not had much
interaction with humans, she is a shy girl and comes to you for
reassurance that it is ok for her to be with you.
She is a delight, a small dog who is housetrained, she sleeps through
the night, she loves the car, she is good with other dogs but it is
obvious that she has never learnt to play with toys/other dogs.
Effie would be
fine as an only dog but she cannot be left alone all day on her own, if
this is the case she will need a little buddy to keep her company,
hopefully she will be taught how to play. Chihuahuas are not
for very young children, over 8 years old is about the age that Chi’s
love kids as they can grow up together.
Small dogs live well into their teenage years, ie 16 years is about the
average for small dogs as long as they are fed a good diet and have
regular health checks and regular exercise.

MINDY Scruffy
JRT cross girl approx 4 years old,
Mindy is a sweet girl who just loves all people, her tail never stops
wagging once she sees you walk through the door, a delight to have in
my home.
Mindy is housetrained, she sleeps through the night, loves a walk, I
have not heard her bark since she arrived, which is a bonus.
Mindy would be fine as an only dog but she cannot be left on her own
all day as she would not be a happy girl, her ideal home would be as a
companion to a semi/retired person/persons who are home most of the
time and could give her the time and love that she deserves, she needs
to belong to her family, she needs to be able to go to places, where
dogs are permitted, with her family, she needs to sleep inside
especially in winter.
Not much to ask for just the basics that all pooches require to make
them happy family members for life.

TINY foxie
cross girl approx 12 months old
Tiny is a
typical foxie who
loves nothing better that being part of a family, she loves
people/other dogs/loves to play/explore all of the good things that
young dogs love to do.
There is no end to this girl's enthusiasm and she would make a perfect
companion to those who love the outdoors, she travels well in a car so
can go anywhere with you. On the other hand, she would do equally well
just having some time at home with you and a little play in the yard.
Either way, Tiny would be fine anywhere where she could get plenty of
love, a warm bed and a full tummy.
Foxies bond very quickly to their humans and they just love kids as
they seem to be able to keep up with their energy levels and Tiny is no
exception, she would be a great companion for the resident dog
(hopefully the same size as her she is approx 4 kilos) Tiny cannot be
left on her own all day, as dogs left alone all day become very
unhappy.
Tiny sleeps all night and she is housetrained as long as she has access
to outside. If you are looking for a companion for your other
dog that will play and keep them companion maybe Tiny is the girl for
you as long a you have a secure yard and adequate shelter, can walk her
a couple of times a week, allow her to sleep inside, have access to
inside/outside during the day then maybe you can give me a ring and we
can go from there.

BELLA is a Maltese
cross approx 5-6 years old
What a delightful little girl Bella
is, she loves humans as I suspect she has been neglected not only
emotionally but also physically as her coat was so matted the hair on
her 2 back legs had fused together so she had difficulty walking, once
clipped all over she is a much happier girl.
Bella is an
engaging little dog with a tail that is always wagging. She
is a
happy, confident and affectionate girl that loves everyone, but is
totally devoted and loyal to her special humans. Bella is a real
smoocher and loves cuddles.
Bella likes going for walks, is
very keen to please, she is great in the car and just goes to sleep,
she is house trained, is happy to sleep on her own as long as she has a
cosy bed inside. Bella gets along with other dogs, she is
fine
with cats but she just loves people, as she is an older dog she does
not have any of the annoying puppy habits.
Bella needs
another dog for company, as she would not cope on her own all day, she
would also suit an older retired couple who are looking for one dog for
company, take for walks and just basically love and care for and be one
of the family.

LUCY Jack

I am not a fan of JRT's but have had a few over time and am warming to
them and this girl is exceptional, a sweet girl who just really loves
people and other dogs, she may just convince me that they are great
little dogs.
Lucy is an
engaging girl who's tail is always wagging, she is a happy, confident
and affectionate girl who loves everyone and is totally devoted and
loyal to her special humans. Lucy is a real smoocher and loves cuddles
and pats.
Lucy is sugar and spice and all things nice, add to that:

Lucy loves walks and playing with the other dogs in the family, she is
very keen to please and will happily try new things, she loves car

she is approx 5-6 kilos, she would not cope as an only dog, she would

SALLY Female
crossbreed about 5 years old
Sally
was picked up at Kambah Pool here in Canberra in an appalling state
with her coat so badly matted and full of wire wrapped around
her
back legs, it is surpising that she could walk, but after she made it
to the pound she was sent to the groomers to have a complete makeover,
and what a different girl she is now.
Sally is a delightful little thing approx 4 kilos but so full of life
and a real charmer.
Sally
is housetrained, she sleeps through the night, loves to go for walks,
is good in the car, just an all round great little dog.
According
to my vet Sally was most probably hit by a car and had reconstruction
surgery on her nose whilst with her previous family, to be honest I
don’t see her funny nose anymore because her personality is the most
important trait with this little muffin.
She is a very
affectionate little girl who will make a great companion for a
semi/retired person/s who are relatively active as Sally is a young dog
who needs exercise and stimulation, she would be fine as an only dog
but she cannot be left on her own for 8-9 hours daily all week.

SHELLIE
Shih Tzu X female about 4 to 5 years old
SPECIAL NEEDS POOCH
Shellie
is a special needs girl who needs a special home. Shellie
came
into care a very stressed girl and she was allowed (in her previous
home) to develop the habit of chasing her tail, this became a very
serious issue and poor Shellie damaged her tail so badly that it had to
be amputated.
She came through the operation well and she now doesn’t chase her tail
and her stress levels have almost disappeared.
Shellie
needs a calm home, she is a delightful little girl who will thrive in
the right home. She loves her walks, loves people, is good
with
cats (non running kind) she is housetrained, sleeps through the night,
loves the car.
Shellie would be fine as an only dog and
would be great in a home that is quiet and her new mum and dad have
some idea of what her needs are.
It is hard to find the
right home for dogs like Shellie but there are people out there who
open their arms, their hearts and their home to “special needs pooches”
like Shellie.

MURPHY 2 year old
Foxie cross male
Murphy
has just arrived in to foster care, this poor mite needs a really good
feed as he is very thin but with the right food he will put on weight
very quickly.
Murphy is a
great
little dog who is learning that not all people are monsters, he is
slowly coming around and beginning to trust people, he is a real
sweetheart.
Murphy loves the car, he is housetrained, he
is learning that the lead can take him to many places for him to
explore and sniff and do doggie things to.
Murphy would
benefit from obedience training and socialization classes, he is great
with other dogs, he was fine with a couple of greyhounds before coming
into care, he would thrive in a home with older children and another
dog his size as he loves to play. Murphy cannot be an only
dog as
he would not cope being on his own all day.
